Townsend – a modern British dining room and cafe situated in the Whitechapel Gallery – was named after Charles Harrison Townsend, the architect who designed this gallery as well the Bishopsgate Institute and the Horniman Museum. All three buildings carry his signature Tree Of Life motif, which formed the inspiration for an elegant leaf icon. I paired this with a loose, signature-style logo, which was later updated to include a ‘town-send’ version for their online shop, opened in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
